Speaker Nabih Berri Discusses Political Developments and Development Issues with a Delegation from “Bekaa: Development and Belonging”
Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri received a delegation from the “Bekaa: Development and Belonging” initiative at the Second Presidency headquarters in Ain El-Tineh, where discussions focused on recent political developments and general affairs, particularly development issues affecting Lebanon as a whole and the Bekaa region in particular.
The delegation included His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Ali Al-Ghazzawi, Mufti of Zahle and the Bekaa; Sheikh Bakr Al-Rifai, Mufti of Baalbek and Hermel; Archimandrite Elie Bou Chaya; Judge Dr. Sheikh Daniel Said; former Deputy Speaker of Parliament Elie Ferzli; MPs Hassan Mourad, Qabalan Qabalan, Wael Abou Faour, and Salim Aoun; former MPs Jamal Jarrah, Assem Araji, Elie Marouni, and Mohammad Al-Qaraaoui; Mounir Al-Tini, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Zahle and the Bekaa; Sheikh Ziad Haifa; and Dr. Sheikh Nader Jomaa.
The delegation briefed Speaker Berri on the objectives of the Bekaa Development Initiative, as well as the proceedings and outcomes of the conference held at Azhari Bekaa, and presented him with its final recommendations.
The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss several development priorities concerning Lebanon in general and the Bekaa in particular, foremost among them the Dahr Al-Baydar Tunnel and its importance in improving connectivity between the Bekaa and other Lebanese regions, as well as the need to complete the Arab Highway and its role in stimulating economic activity. Other national issues were also addressed.
