The Tide of the Hijab at Azhar Al-Bekaa: Honoring 400 Veiled Women from Bekaa Villages

The Women’s Committee at Dar Al-Fatwa – Bekaa organized a celebration titled “The Tide of the Hijab” to honor 400 veiled women from Bekaa villages. The event took place at Azhar Al-Bekaa on Sunday, April 12, 2026, under the patronage and attendance of the Mufti of Zahle and Bekaa, Dr. Sheikh Ali Al-Ghazzawi, MP Bilal Al-Housheimi, and a gathering of scholars, administrators, preachers, families, and women’s committees.
The ceremony was hosted by Ms. Sara Baydoun and opened with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an by student Miriam Al-Deedi. The event featured speeches and touching stories presented by veiled women, who shared their personal journeys and experiences with wearing the hijab.
Ms. Layla Yaqtin, speaking on behalf of the Women’s Committee, emphasized that the hijab represents protection, dignity, and identity, praising the commitment of young women to Islamic values.
The Mufti highlighted the resilience of women in Gaza, stressing that the hijab is not merely clothing but a symbol of faith and identity, and underscored the importance of adhering to Islamic values in challenging times.
The event concluded with honoring the participants and village committees.
